Settings

Moontors’ settings are this computer’s, kept when Moontors restarts or is reinstalled, as presets are. Signed in to a Moontors account, all but the board’s sync with your other computers (see Settings sync). A change applies at once, with no Save, and the board shows it once you go back to it. The phone’s board stays as it is.

Settings, in the header, or Settings… in the Moontors menu on macOS and in File on Windows and Linux (Cmd+, on macOS, Ctrl+, elsewhere), shows the settings in the board’s place, as Archived shows the archived sessions. Its button again, or Escape, goes back to the board, as it does from the archived sessions. At the right of its heading is the version of Moontors you’re running, with the commit it was built from, as /status shows them.

Its settings are in four tabs, one shown at a time: New Session, Board, Rephrase button and Files, each below. Click a tab, or with one focused, the arrow keys, Home and End move between them. Settings opens on New Session at first, then on the tab you left it on, each tab as far down as you left it, for as long as Moontors’ window stays open.

How new sessions start, the first tab:

  • Agents: every agent Moontors knows, in the order the create menu lists them. Beside an agent signed in or set to check at start are its default mode, model and effort for new sessions, through the composer’s menus. A menu’s (default) keeps nothing, so new sessions follow the agent’s own as it changes, and an effort is kept with its model. Bypass asks you to confirm here, once (see Switching). An agent that’s signed out has Sign in to set its defaults instead. A default the agent no longer offers, such as a model it stopped listing, falls back to the agent’s own when a session starts, saying so.
  • Quick actions: the ways the create menu starts a session in a project, in its order, each shown by its switch, all of them at first: Here, Check out the default branch, then here, Pull the default branch, then here, Pull, then here, New branch here, New worktree · default branch, New worktree · current branch, New worktree with my changes, New branch in worktree and Branch. One always stays shown, and its switch says why.
  • Drag either list’s items by their handles to reorder them. With the keyboard: Space picks one up, the arrow keys move it, Space drops it, and Escape puts it back.

Sections: Rows as it starts, or Columns, a column a card wide (see The board). Card width, from 320 to 720 pixels, 450 to start, and Card height, from 180 to 480, 270 to start, each shown beside its slider. Zoom, the size of the transcript inside each card: 100% is the transcript’s own size, as in the panel, and 85%, a little smaller, is where it starts, from 50% to 150%. The card’s own title, status and footer stay their size.

Reset puts them all back where they start, the sections in rows, and is greyed out while they’re there. A wider card takes more of the window, so the transcript panel leaves it room, and in a window too narrow for both, the board and the panel show one at a time.

What a click on the composer’s rephrase button does: Rephrase, as it starts, or Rephrase and slightly enrich (see Rephrasing a message). The phone’s button does the same.

Save files as you leave them, on at first, saves a file’s unsaved changes in Files as you switch to another file, close its tab, or leave Files for another view, session or project. A save that’s refused keeps the changes and says why. Off, a file keeps its unsaved changes until you save it, and closing its tab asks first (see Files).
