Gemini CLI's commands in Moontors

Works in Moontors

A Moontors view

  • /about: Moontors’ /status shows its version, the model, how it’s signed in, and its Google Cloud project when one is set.
  • /agents: Moontors’ /agents lists the agents.
  • /commands: The configuration view lists the custom commands.
  • /extensions: Moontors’ /plugins shows the extensions and switches them.
  • /help: Moontors’ /help lists the session’s commands, with what each does.
  • /hooks: Moontors’ /hooks shows the hooks and switches them.
  • /mcp: Moontors’ /mcp shows the MCP servers and switches them.

  • /tools: The configuration view lists Gemini CLI’s own tools at the pin, switched through Moontors’ overlay.

An action

  • /clear: Moontors’ /clear starts a new conversation. Also /new.
  • /directory: /directory add is Moontors’ /add-dir, one folder at a time; /directory show opens the session’s folders in its configuration. Also /dir.
  • /export-session: Moontors’ /export saves the transcript as a Markdown file.
  • /init: Moontors’ /init writes the GEMINI.md file, in Gemini CLI’s own words.
  • /bug: Opens Gemini CLI’s bug report form in the browser.
  • /docs: Opens Gemini CLI’s documentation in the browser.
  • /privacy: Opens Google’s privacy notices for Gemini Code Assist in the browser.
  • /setup-github: Opens the quick start for running Gemini CLI in GitHub Actions in the browser.
  • /upgrade: Opens Gemini Code Assist’s upgrade page in the browser.

Depends on your account

These work only where your account, Gemini CLI’s features or your settings turn them on; what decides each is named with it. Moontors shows each as your session has it.

  • /agents: experimental.enableAgents, on by default.
  • /hooks: hooksConfig.enabled, on by default.
  • /mcp: admin.mcp.enabled, on by default.
  • /skills: skills.enabled, on by default.
  • /upgrade: Signed in with Google.

Not in Moontors

Only in the terminal

They need Gemini CLI’s own terminal, which Moontors doesn’t show.

  • /bug-memory: Save a heap snapshot to attach to a bug report. It snapshots Gemini CLI’s terminal app, which Moontors doesn’t run.
  • /compress: Replace the context with a summary of it. Only Gemini CLI’s own terminal can run it; Moontors talks to Gemini over ACP, which doesn’t offer it. Also /summarize, /compact.
  • /copy: Copy the last answer or code snippet. Select text in the transcript to copy it.
  • /corgi: Turn corgi mode on or off. It changes Gemini CLI’s terminal, which Moontors doesn’t show.
  • /editor: Choose the external editor. Moontors opens files in its own Files view.
  • /footer: Choose what the footer shows. It changes Gemini CLI’s terminal, which Moontors doesn’t show. Also /statusline.
  • /gemma: Check the local Gemma model routing. Only Gemini CLI’s own terminal can run it; Moontors talks to Gemini over ACP, which doesn’t offer it.
  • /ide: Manage the IDE connection. Moontors has no IDE connection; type @ in the composer to name a file.
  • /quit: Exit Gemini CLI. A session runs until you archive it. Also /exit.
  • /restore: Restore the conversation and the files to before a tool call. Gemini runs it over ACP only where checkpointing is on, which it isn’t by default, and Moontors doesn’t turn it on.
  • /rewind: Go back to a message and restart the conversation from there. Only Gemini CLI’s own terminal can run it; Moontors talks to Gemini over ACP, which doesn’t offer it.
  • /shortcuts: Show or hide the shortcuts panel. It changes Gemini CLI’s terminal, which Moontors doesn’t show.
  • /tasks: Show or hide the background tasks. Only Gemini CLI’s own terminal can run it; Moontors talks to Gemini over ACP, which doesn’t offer it. Also /bg, /background.
  • /terminal-setup: Set up the terminal’s keys for multiline input. It changes Gemini CLI’s terminal, which Moontors doesn’t show.
  • /theme: Choose the theme. It changes Gemini CLI’s terminal, which Moontors doesn’t show.
  • /vim: Turn Vim mode on or off. It changes Gemini CLI’s terminal, which Moontors doesn’t show.

Voice

They take your voice, which Moontors doesn’t listen to.

  • /voice: Turn voice dictation on or off. Moontors doesn’t take voice input.

Moontors has its own way

Moontors does the same from its own screens, named with each.

  • /auth: Sign in or out. Moontors’ sign-in signs in to Gemini, Switch account in Accounts changes the account, and /logout signs out.
  • /chat: Browse the saved conversations, and save, resume, delete or share a checkpoint. Each session on the board keeps its conversation, and the session’s Fork button branches it.
  • /model: Choose the model. The model picker beside the composer sets the model and effort.
  • /permissions: Manage folder trust and other permissions. Moontors’ modes and session rules set what Gemini may do; the folders you trust in Gemini CLI still stand.
  • /plan: Switch to Plan mode, and show the plan. The permission mode picker beside the composer switches to Plan.
  • /resume: Browse the saved conversations, and save, resume, delete or share a checkpoint. Each session on the board keeps its conversation; open it to go on.

Never offered

No account can have these: they’re off in Gemini CLI’s released builds, internal to it, or only in its development builds.

  • /oncall: Commands for Gemini CLI’s on-call team. Gemini CLI’s stable builds don’t have it.
  • /profile: Show or hide the debug profile. Gemini CLI’s released builds don’t have it.

Moontors’ own commands

Moontors runs these itself with Gemini CLI, which has no command of the name: /rename, /diff, /export, /status, /plugins, /add-dir, /logout, /archive, /delete. What each does is in Moontors’ conversation commands guide.

Not with Gemini CLI, as it can’t do them:

  • /approve, which Codex has
  • /apps, which Codex has
  • /autocompact, which Claude Code has
  • /branch, which Claude Code has
  • /btw, which Claude Code and Codex have
  • /cd, which Claude Code and Codex have
  • /context, which Claude Code and Codex have
  • /daybreak, which Codex has
  • /experimental, which Codex has

  • /subtask, which Claude Code and Codex have

Not supported yet

A command Gemini CLI reports that this page doesn’t know yet, as a newer release brings, shows in the / list as “not supported yet” and can’t be run until a Moontors update adds it.
