# A Vibe Kanban alternative with a phone app for Android and iPhone

Vibe Kanban [runs coding agents in parallel](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban), Claude Code,
Codex and Gemini CLI among ten, each workspace with its own branch, terminal and dev server, from a
local server you [open in your browser](https://vibekanban.com/docs/getting-started) or from its
desktop app. Bloop, the company behind it,
[shut down on April 10, 2026](https://www.vibekanban.com/blog/shutdown), and as of October 28,
2026, its site [says Vibe Kanban is sunsetting](https://www.vibekanban.com/) and will
continue as open source, community maintained. Moontors is an agentic development environment (ADE)
that runs Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI side by side, in a desktop app on macOS, Windows and
Linux.

## What each has that the other doesn't

Vibe Kanban:

- open source, under the [Apache-2.0 licence](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban/blob/main/LICENSE);
- [ten coding agents](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban) to choose from, GitHub Copilot, Amp,
  Cursor and OpenCode among them;
- a workspace that takes [several repositories](https://vibekanban.com/docs/getting-started), with
  a git worktree in each;
- a [built-in browser](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban) with devtools, inspect mode and
  device emulation, for previewing your app;
- [inline comments on its diffs](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban) that go to the agent, and
  pull requests opened with descriptions the agent writes;
- a server you can [run on another machine](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban#remote-deployment)
  and reach through a tunnel, in a browser.

Moontors:

- every session on one board, each card streaming its agent's work as it happens, where Vibe
  Kanban [retired its kanban board](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban/pull/3387) in version
  0.1.44;
- an app for Android and iPhone, on [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moontors.mobile) and [the App Store](https://apps.apple.com/app/id6824488067), that follows and answers your computer's own sessions over a link encrypted end to end, which no Moontors server can read;
- Moontors itself sends no telemetry; each agent's own usage data follows that agent's settings.

## Where Vibe Kanban is the better fit

- You want an open-source app.
- You use agents beyond Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI.
- One task spans several repositories.
- You want to preview and inspect your app in a browser beside the agents.
- You'd rather run it on a server and open it from anywhere in a browser.

## Questions

### Is Vibe Kanban shutting down?

Its company has, and the project goes on without it. Bloop, the company behind Vibe Kanban,
[shut down on April 10, 2026](https://www.vibekanban.com/blog/shutdown), saying the project would
live on, open source and community maintained, and as of October 28, 2026, Vibe Kanban's
[site](https://www.vibekanban.com/) says it is sunsetting and will continue that way. Its remote
services, its kanban issues, comments, projects and organisations among them,
[went 30 days after](https://www.vibekanban.com/blog/shutdown), and its local workspaces carry on.
Its repository has [taken changes since](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban/commits/main), the
latest on October 26, 2026.

### What happened to Vibe Kanban's kanban board?

It's gone from the app. Its kanban issues were among the remote services
[removed after the shutdown](https://www.vibekanban.com/blog/shutdown), and Vibe Kanban's
version 0.1.44 [replaced the board](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban/pull/3387) with a page
for exporting your data. Its workspaces, where the agents run, still work. Moontors keeps every
session on one board, each card streaming its agent's work.

### Does Vibe Kanban run Gemini CLI?

Yes. Vibe Kanban [runs Gemini CLI](https://vibekanban.com/docs/agents/gemini-cli) beside Claude
Code, Codex and seven more agents. Moontors runs Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI, each through its
own protocol.

### Does Vibe Kanban run on Windows?

Yes, as a [desktop app](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban/releases/tag/v0.1.44-20260424091429)
or a [local server](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban/blob/main/npx-cli/src/cli.ts) you open
in your browser. Moontors is a desktop app on macOS, Windows and Linux.

### Is Moontors open source?

No. Moontors is free, but closed source. Vibe Kanban is open source, under the
[Apache-2.0 licence](https://github.com/BloopAI/vibe-kanban/blob/main/LICENSE).
